Harry further clarified that he wanted to make it clear that he wasn’t walking away from the charity and things that matter to him the most. “Our hope was to continue serving the Queen, the Commonwealth, and my military associations, but without public funding. Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible,” Harry said at the fundraiser.
The parents of baby Archie made up their minds for the sake of the future of their family and to create a peaceful environment to raise their family.
Harry and Meghan’s decision to step away as senior members of the royal family was originally announced on January 8 via Sussex Royal Instagram post. “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution,” the statement revealed. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
The couple revealed that they plan to spend time in both the United Kingdom and North America, which is an important consideration in how they wish to raise Archie. “This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity,” the Instagram statement further explained.
