Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in Canada for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 One Year to Go celebration. And during their time there, Prince Harry spoke to Good Morning America host Will Reeve about a number of different topics; most notably his father King Charles’ health!
Prince Harry addressed his father’s health for the first time since Buckingham Palace released a statement to confirm the 75-year-old monarch’s cancer diagnosis. But it isn’t what he said that made headlines; it’s what he didn’t say!
What Did Prince Harry Say About King Charles’ Health?
While the 39-year-old royal is usually quite forthcoming with information about his family (anyone who has read his bombshell memoir Spare or seen the Harry & Meghan Netflix docuseries will know that!) he was uncharacteristically tight-lipped in his latest interview, which has raised eyebrows about the monarch’s health.
“That is between me and him,” Prince Harry said in the Good Morning America interview, when asked about his father’s health.
Although he dismissed the health question, the father-of-two did, however, confirm that he arranged to go to London to see the King as soon as he called him to tell him about his cancer diagnosis. “I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could,” Prince Harry said. “I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go see and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
Royal Experts Are Concerned About What Prince Harry's Silence Could Mean
Royal author Christopher Andersen spoke to Fox News Digital about how the Duke of Sussex not saying anything positive about his father's health could be a cause for concern. "One of the most revealing things that came out of the Good Morning America interview was the total reluctance to say anything about his father's condition," the author of The King explained.
"The usual response, even if it isn't true, is that the patient is doing great and the prognosis looks excellent," Andersen continued. "Instead, Harry said that any information about his father's medical condition is strictly between him and the King. These are private matters, of course. But even so, Harry's prompt dismissal of the question, coupled with the palace's refusal to offer any details, is concerning."
Prince Harry Didn't Mention Prince William In 'Good Morning America' Interview
Royal expert Shannon Felton Spence also weighed in about the interview, paying particular attention to the fact that Prince Harry didn't speak out about his relationship with his older brother, Prince William.
Talking about Prince Harry's brief trip to the U.K. to see their father, Felton Spence said: "He was there for 45 minutes, and he didn't see his brother. The King's heart to his child is going to be much softer than the Prince of Wales to his brother."
Felton Spence then went on to speculate when Prince Harry really could have found out about his father's cancer diagnosis. "What strikes me the most is when he says he heard from his father and then jumped on a plane," she told the pub. "There are two ways to look at this: It would be really hard for Harry to book a transatlantic flight without public speculation, so perhaps he was waiting until the announcement was out to do that. Or, the King didn't even tell him until right before the announcement because the House of Sussex had been so leaky, proving the point when they issued a notification that Harry was going to visit."
