Prince Harry may still be feuding with his older brother Prince William, and he hasn’t quite patched things up with his father King Charles after he cut him off financially, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he adores every aspect of his new life in Montecito, California.
According to recent reports, the Duke of Sussex, 39, is “quite lonely” in America, where he currently lives with wife Meghan Markle, 42, and their two children – son Prince Archie, 4, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 2. And a large part of it might have something to do with the former Suits actress, as a royal expert reportedly alleged that she is “trying to isolate him” from his friends and members of the royal family.
Prince Harry Is Reportedly Lonely In The US
"I'm told on good authority that he's quite lonely. He's quite isolated in California," royal expert Phil Dampier said in an interview on GB News. "Maybe that's part of Meghan's plan to isolate him from his friends as well as his family," Dampier continued, adding that his lack of proper friendships could be having a negative effect on him.
"I just don't feel that he's got a group of mates to go out and have a few beers with and unwind and relax, and talk about matey men things that we all like to do down the pub," Dampier thought. He then went on to say that he believed Harry is now "dependent" on his wife, and she seemingly dictates what social events he goes to. This appeared to be the case when he was papped looking "bored" and "miserable" at recent Beyoncé and Katy Perry concerts.
"He's become completely dependent on her for his social life," Dampier continued, adding, "When we see him at things like the Beyoncé concert, basketball matches and things like that Formula One he was at, he always seems to be with sort of corporate types, people that he works with. He doesn't seem to be with a group of mates, and I think this is having quite an effect on him."
Prince Harry Reportedly 'Longs' For His Old Friendships In The UK
Dampier's thoughts echo what entertainment commentator Mark Boardman told Ok! back in October, as he reportedly thought that Prince Harry really wants his old life back and "longs" to see his estranged friends. According to Boardman, Harry doesn't see the friends he has made in the U.S. as his true friends. "London is where all of Harry's real friends are. Everyone they know in Hollywood, they aren't his friends," Boardman said at the time.
"Prince Harry's social life has notably shifted over the past decade. He appears to have distanced himself from his college friends and lacks a permanent U.K. residence," he continued, in reference to the fact that he and Meghan were evicted from Frogmore Cottage earlier this year. "During his visits to London, he typically resides in hotels and avoids public appearances. Undoubtedly, Prince Harry longs for his old friendships."
