Prince Harry, 40, and Meghan Markle, 43, have come under fire after writing a rare letter to encourage Americans to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming election.

Getting involved with politics goes against royal protocol, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have of course stepped down as working royals, which could be why they felt it was acceptable to write the letter. Although they did not publicly endorse Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, writing the letter alone was still enough to cause backlash all over the internet.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Encourage People To Vote On National Voter Registration Day

Prince Harry and Meghan's letter was issued via their Archewell Foundation on September 17th, National Voter Registration Day, and read: "Voting is not just a right; it's a fundamental way to influence the fate of our communities. At The Archewell Foundation, we recognize that civic engagement, no matter one's political party, is at the heart of a more just and equitable world."

"By participating in initiatives like this, we aim to amplify the message that every voice matters," the letter continued. "Together, let's make sure every eligible voter is informed and empowered to participate in shaping America's future."

Internet Reactions

"What is hilarious is that the two of them still think that a) anyone cares what they think/say/do and b) that anything they have to say about anything is important or matters, or makes any difference whatsoever," wrote one Page Six reader in the comment section of an article about the letter.

"These two are truly delusional to think that anyone cares about them," concurred a second, as a third agreed, writing: "No one is taking any advice from these two."

"Highly inappropriate considering Harry's title, and that he is not a US citizen. ZIP IT, HAROLD!" exclaimed another in agreement. "Well, isn't that rich?! No one cares what Harold Sussex thinks about American elections," wrote another, as someone else exclaimed: "Henry can't vote here! And no one cares what they say!"

"Who do they think they are – advising people?" asked another, as someone else said: "Here we go again. Anything to keep your horrid face and name on [Page Six.] Listen [Meghan] we don't need you to give us advice or tell us anything, least of all to register to vote." Another reader quipped: "No one asked. No one cares. You didn't have enough influence to sell jam. Go away!"
