There are two sides to every story… especially royal stories. Prince Harry just denied that he and Meghan Markle were invited to his father’s 75th birthday party days after reports came out that he declined the invitation. Whether or not he was invited, the fact remains that King Charles is holding a birthday celebration and his youngest son, Prince Harry, will not be in attendance.
King Charles, who assumed the throne in May of this year, is having himself a birthday party at the Clarence House in London for his family and friends on Nov. 14th, and The Sunday Times reported that Harry and Meghan declined their invitation to the event. On Monday, however, a source told The Messenger that King Charles or any of his team “never reached out.”
Harry & Meghan claim they weren't invited to King Charles' birthday party
The Sunday Times reported on Sunday that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who now reside in Montecito, California, "would not be making the trip" for Prince Charles' milestone birthday. The following day, however, the Duke of Sussex's spokesperson told The Messenger that "there has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty's upcoming birthday," and that he's "disappointed The Sunday Times misrepresented the story." Buckingham Palace has declined to set the record straight, so we may never know who’s telling the truth.
Prince Harry was last seen in the UK in September, when he attended the WellChild Awards and paid his respects to the late Queen Elizabeth on the one-year anniversary of her death. During this quick trip, Harry unsurprisingly did not see his father, King Charles, or his brother, Prince William. As Harry continues to stray away from his family, Charles and William are reportedly getting closer, having to put up a united front against Harry and Meghan's claims of mistreatment from the royal family.
Fan reactions
Many fans took to social media to claim that Harry and Meghan must not be telling the truth. After all, what father doesn’t invite their son to their birthday party? Here's what fans had to say:
"They're just trying to make the King look petty because their royal connection has been cut for good and they have nothing without it," one user commented.
Another person wrote, "Why would Harry and Meghan want to be invited? They have made clear that they want nothing to do with them."
"If it's true he wasn't invited (and that's a big IF), maybe the more events he's NOT included in the more it will occur to him what a corner he's painted himself in," a third user posted.
"Harry and Meghan keep throwing tantrums and the royal family wisely ignores them," another person commented. "Why would he invite them?"
