Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan Markle, 42, are already facing criticism from royalists for their “insensitivity” in posing for photographs with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness, due to him being very open about his desire to replace the monarchy with a republic. But that’s not all, as the internet is still slamming them for the way they handled the news of King Charles and Kate Middleton‘s respective health battles.
Earlier this month, Kensington Palace revealed that King Charles, 75, had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, which he has now received treatment for. The palace also revealed that the Princess of Wales, 42, underwent planned abdominal surgery, and was expected to stay in the London Clinic for 10-14 days.
The palace confirmed on Monday, January 29th that the princess had finally left the private London hospital, and was continuing her recovery at her home in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. However, neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle made a public statement about King Charles or the Princess of Wales following the news of their respective health battles, and therefore received a lot of criticism online for it.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Reportedly Reached Out To King Charles And Kate Middleton Privately
A source reportedly suggested that Prince Harry was unaware about his father and sister in law's health problems, and most likely found out at the same time as the rest of the world. However, instead of holding a grudge, the Duke of Sussex, along with his wife the Duchess of Sussex, reportedly put it behind him and extended an olive branch to his family. Albeit, privately.
According to an insider who spoke to The Mirror, both Prince Harry and Meghan reached out to King Charles and the Princess of Wales separately to offer their support and best wishes throughout their health battles. "The King and the Princess of Wales have received support from Prince Harry and Meghan regarding their health," a source reportedly told The Mirror. "The Duke and Duchess contacted both parties in different ways to pass on their concern and best wishes," they added, thus hinting that a reconciliation could be on the cards. However, the internet isn't buying it.
The Internet Isn't Buying Prince Harry And Meghan Markle's Well Wishes
Some people don't think that Harry and Meghan reached out at all, whereas others think that they *may* have done, but only after being slammed on social media for not saying something sooner.
Others think the story of them reaching out to the King and Princess of Wales was planted by one of their friends, with Finding Freedom author Omid Scobie's name coming up a few times on social media and in comments sections of articles. We have no idea what to believe, but we love hearing what the public think!
Commenting on a Page Six story about Harry and Meghan privately reaching out to King Charles and Kate, one person wrote: "This story is bogus! The Grifters are too self-centered and selfish to send any well wishes!" Another reader replied to the comment directly, and thought that someone like the Endgame author planted the story, adding: "No way the gruesome twosome did this and if they did, no way it was sincere."
"They only sent 'well wishes' after six days because they were publicly criticized for not doing so," thought another reader, adding: "They are only trying to help themselves, they don't care about KC or Princess Catherine." "Harry & Meghan put this story out there to try to win back the public's affection. They're pathetic," said another. "Markle has never wished the royal family well before. Just the opposite. Why now. Rhetorical question," wrote another, as another quipped: "Well, I'm sure William and Catherine can sleep better now that they received phony best wishes from those 2 narcissistic whining liars."
Did Prince Harry And Meghan Have An Ulterior Motive?
Other people think that Harry and Meghan *did* reach out, but that they had ulterior motives. Commenting on a similar article from The Mirror, one person wrote: "If he did, I believe that there would have also been an underlying motive of trying to get back in his Pa's good books hoping the King will cough up yet more money for the ex-royals." Another wrote: "Anything to try to creep their way back into the RF as they know without those connections they are nothing." "The Unsussexfuls just need money," thought another.
"Hi dad I need a check for 750 grand now please, just in case the op doesn't go to plan!" exclaimed another reader, as many others thought they asked their PR team to issue a statement about their well-wishes due to the criticism they were getting. "So the Sussexes only sent get well messages after their public profile was taking a battering. Then they ask their PR team to announce that they have done it. I am not sure that is the spirit of 'sending support.'" Another said it was "far too late after everything these [two] have done, anything for publicity." "Too little too late for these two I'm afraid," wrote another, adding: "The damage is done."
