Trouble in paradise? Divorce rumors continue to swirl around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as the former Duke of Sussex was seen living it up at the Formula 1 race in Austin, Texas—alone. In fact, this is not the only recent event Prince Harry attended by himself: the Suits actress was also notably missing from King Charles’ coronation on May 6th and Harry’s WellChild Awards speech on Sept. 7th.
Though sources close to the ex-royals claim the two are still happily married, relationship expert Louella Alderson has other ideas, saying Harry’s recent solo trip may have been a way “to decompress from any tension or stress within their marriage.” Keep reading for more info about the potential royal divorce.
Relationship expert points out tension between Harry & Meghan
Louella Alderson, founder of the dating app So Syncd, broke down why the Sussex’s might be making so many solo public appearances. “Given the recent reports of tension between Harry and Meghan during their trip to the Caribbean,” the professional began, “some may view this as a sign of further strain in their relationship.”
The couple left their kids at home to take a secret vacation to Canouan, a small Caribbean island, over the weekend of Oct. 14th. Alderson speculates that they may have taken the solo trip without any distractions from their youngsters to “take care of themselves as a couple.”
Harry & Meghan divorce rumors may just be rumors
However, there are always two sides to every story. Alderson also explained that Meghan's absence from the Formula 1 race may not have been because of a rocky relationship. "With Prince Harry being with the Mercedes team, it could've been a work-related trip for him," the relationship expert explained. "In this case, Meghan may have stayed back to give him space to focus and do his job without any additional distractions," she added.
Prince Harry is also known for being an avid automobile collector, and enjoys watching car races. Meghan simply might not like watching racecars, and decided to stay home with their children, Archie and Lili, after spending time away from them in the Caribbean.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield also offered the theory that the ex-royals could be trying to distance themselves professionally. "There were clear signs of a professional separation when WME announced that they were only signing Meghan Markle," Schofield said. "Then the Heart of Invictus trailer was released, and we discovered that Prince Harry was the executive producer—without Meghan."
And according to Alderson, this may not be a bad sign. "Harry and Meghan will be aware that their actions and presence together can attract a lot of attention, so it's possible that they make conscious decisions to give each other space and privacy when it comes to work commitments," she explained.
Fans are divided over potential divorce for Harry & Meghan
Divorce rumors don't seem to be dying down, and fans are still divided over whether the rumors have any truth to them. One Reddit user points out that just because there might be some tension in their relationship, it doesn’t mean divorce is imminent: "Every marital relationship has strain at some point but it doesn't point to marital dissatisfaction or divorce," the user explained "It just means we are all human," they added.
Another user felt the opposite. "She will divorce him within the next 3-5 years," they commented, adding, "I certainly wouldn't call this a good marriage."
Neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle have commented on the divorce rumors, so it looks like only time will tell!
