Prince Harry returned home last month immediately following the cancer diagnosis of his father, King Charles. However, he left after less than 24 hours, and didn’t even visit his brother, Prince William, and his family. Royal insiders are now reporting that Prince Harry actually reached out to his older brother ahead of his trip across the pond, but William had “no plan” to meet with Harry. Find out all the information below.
Prince Harry Travels Back To London After King Charles' Shock Cancer Diagnosis
Earlier this year, King Charles was diagnosed with cancer. Though the Palace did not offer any further details about the cancer, they did share that the King would be undergoing cancer treatments while reducing his duties. Days after the news broke, Prince Harry rushed to his father's side, going straight to the Clarence House, where King Charles was resting after his first treatment.
Strangely enough, Harry only stayed there for 45 minutes, after which King Charles and Queen Camilla were drive to Buckingham Palace and were promptly taken by helicopter to the King's private Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
That's a long way to travel for only 45 minutes with his father. Many fans were also puzzled as to why Prince Harry didn't meet up with this brother, Prince William, and his family while he was there. Kate was recovering from a recent "planned abdominal surgery," so it would have been perfectly normal for Harry to want to stop by. Any yet, the pair made "no plans" to meet. Insiders are now reporting the reason why.
Harry & William's Relationship Is An 'Open Sore'
According to reports from People, Prince Harry would love to reconcile with his brother, but William is reluctant. "The family torment is an open sore," another source said. "There is such a profound breach there." After Harry's scathing memoir, Spare, and the Sussex's Netflix docuseries, Harry & Megan, there was an obvious lack of trust between them.
"This is all to do with William's wish to protect the institution of the monarchy, which he feels Harry can't be trusted with. I don't think he will ever agree to readmission of Harry into the family unless he clearly apologizes and moves forward."
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward, author of My Mother and I, says that it is Charles' wish that his sons end the fight between them. "Of course he would like Harry to be the prodigal son and come back and would be much happier if William and Harry were friends again. But he realizes that is just not about to happen."
