Despite confirming that he will indeed be attending his father King Charles III’s coronation on May 6th, it doesn’t look like Prince Harry will be staying for the whole day, as LBC reports that he will “rush home to Meghan and their children” following the service at Westminster Abbey, in reference to wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children – three-year-old son Prince Archie, and daughter Princess Lilibet, who will turn two in June.
As we already know, the coronation falls on the same day as Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, with reports claiming that the prime reason the 41-year-old former Suits actress will not be flying to the U.K. for the coronation is because of the clash with their son’s birthday. However, critics have insisted that the *real* reason the Duchess of Sussex isn’t attending – and the reason the Duke of Sussex is only stopping by for a few hours – is due to their coronation demands not being met, such as a spot on the Buckingham Palace balcony, and face-to-face meetings between Prince Harry and his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, in an attempt to patch things up.
Prince Harry To Rush Home To California Following King Charles' Crowning
As Prince Harry, 38, will only be at the coronation for a few hours, The Mirror reported that event organizers will not reserve a seat for him at the musical extravaganza which will take place the day after the crowning ceremony, which will include performances from Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Andrea Bocelli, and is expected to include an audience of more than 20,000 spectators.
"After much back and forth, Harry said that he would be returning for the King’s coronation but it will only be a fleeting visit," a royal source told The Mirror. "Organizers have been told Harry won’t be attending the concert with the rest of the royal family, which is a great shame as it will be such a spectacular event."
Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, who already correctly predicted that Prince Harry would be coming to the coronation without Meghan, said that his decision to make a brief appearance at the coronation is "not a surprise," telling GB News: "He is coming to show face. He is coming to put his foot in the door. He is coming because his father wants him to be there. His father will be delighted that both his sons will be there to witness this incredible day in his life. But Harry is not going to hang around."
Prince Harry And Prince William Will Be Kept Apart
Burrell also referenced Prince Harry's previous hopes of a reconciliation, saying that he thinks there will be "no chance" of the brothers patching things up, and said it's unlikely they'll even get a chance to speak to each other due to the great lengths the palace are going to keep them apart to avoid any unwanted tension. According to LBC, Prince William will "tolerate" Harry's presence if they do happen to cross paths, but the family "have not met the Duke of Sussex's demand for an apology."
"I think he will get a very icy reception from the Windsors," Burrell added, before going on to say that his seating position during the crowning ceremony will ensure he won't come into close contact with his father or brother. "He will be sitting ten rows back. He will not even see his brother or his father in that time. He will be in and out in a flash."
