Prince Harry Talks About 'The Significance Of Service'
"I've spent the last five years – sometimes publicly but primarily quietly – investing in companies that align with my values and vision of a better tomorrow, companies that understand the power and significance of service," Prince Harry continued, before saying that he was committed to causes supporting "mental fitness to carbon sequestration, early education to veteran employment."
However, his comments didn't go down very well on social media, with many people calling him "hypocritical" for turning his back on a life of service when he and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020.
The Internet Slams Prince Harry's Speech
One disgruntled Reddit user said: "Can you believe the utter arrogance and stupidity of this man-child saying he was born into a life of service.... which he then left 5 years ago to pursue wealth and infamy and yet here he is desperately trying to do the things he used to do i.e. 'service' but with no mandate or role. What solutions can this moron offer anyone?"
A second user replied: "I can't believe he actually said this. Everything they do is for personal gain, power and control they have no empathy for anyone. I'm even more disgusted at him, his hypocrisy truly knows no bounds."
"I think he's way more hypocritical than Meghan," a third wrote, adding: "At least she's no longer pretending that she's interested in anything but fame and money, but Harry is intent on convincing us (and himself) that he's not an irresponsible useless loafer who would have ended up sleeping on his buddy's couch at best if not for the accident of his birth, but that he is this great transformative figure."
"These self-serving, faux royal trips to Columbia & Nigeria? This is a life of Service?" asked a fourth user, as a fifth said: "Constantly tooting your own horn is not an act of service. Try actually doing something, moron." "Talking about a life of service you no longer lead... to a bunch of hedge fund managers whose motto is essentially 'greed is good.' You can't make this up," someone else wrote.
Social Media Comments
The negative comments continued over on X. "Is H getting paid to do these stage appearances?" asked one X user. "He literally RAN AWAY from a life of service," noted a second, as a third quipped: "Harry was never the sharpest knife in the drawer." "What happened to he wanted to be Just Harry?" asked a fourth.
"They really should take a long vacation away from the public. This is so pathetic," slammed another X user. "The hypocrisy is vomit inducing," wrote another unimpressed user, as another added: "He gave up his life of service, betrayed the confidences of his family, broke his oath of allegiance to QEII all for a life of celebrity in Hollywood. He only serves himself."
