Prince Harry may be feuding with his older brother Prince William, but he still seems to have all the love in the world for his and Kate Middleton‘s children.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, is reportedly keen to patch things up with his brother and sister-in-law so that his and Meghan Markle‘s own children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – can build a bond with their cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

And speaking of his niece and nephews – Prince Harry is reportedly quite concerned about them, fearing that perhaps Princess Charlotte or Prince Louis may feel the same way he did when he was growing up, as their older brother Prince George is second in line to the throne, and they are technically considered the ‘spares.’

Prince Harry Is Reportedly Concerned About Princess Charlotte And Prince Louis Being The 'Spares'

Prince Harry previously discussed his fears for his niece and nephew back in 2023 when promoting his bombshell memoir Spare. "At least one of them will end up the spare," he told The Daily Telegraph at the time, according to The Mirror.

The father-of-two also confessed that he voiced his concerns about his niece and nephew, but was allegedly shut down by his older brother every time.

"Though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare. And that hurts, that worries me," Prince Harry explained at the time.

Prince Harry's Fears Come From His Own Childhood Experiences

It seems like Prince Harry always felt inferior to his older brother, who is the direct heir to the throne, which could be why he is so concerned for Prince William and Kate's second and third children.

In his memoir Spare, Prince Harry spoke about the differences between him and his brother on several occasions. In one section of the bombshell memoir, he recalled how he felt when they were much younger and shared a room at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. He remembered how Prince William's side of the room was bigger and had a "beautiful window looking down on the courtyard, the fountain, the bronze statue of a roe deer buck." His half of the room, as Prince Harry wrote, "was far smaller. Less luxurious." He added: "I never asked why. I didn't care. But I also didn't need to ask."

"Two years older than me, Willy was the Heir, whereas I was the Spare. This wasn't merely how the press referred to us – though it was definitely that. This was shorthand often used by Pa and Mummy and Grandpa. And even Granny," Prince Harry confessed, adding: "The Heir and the Spare – there was no judgment about it, but also no ambiguity."

"I was the shadow, the support, the Plan B. I was brought into the world in case something happened to Willy," he continued. "I was summoned to provide backup, distraction, diversion and, if necessary, a spare part. Kidney perhaps. Blood transfusion. Speck of bone marrow. This was all made explicitly clear to me from the start of life's journey and regularly reinforced thereafter."
