Recently, the royal family resumed in-person social engagements. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles were the first couple to step out since the U.K. eased its coronavirus pandemic restrictions. The royal family hinted that Prince William and Kate Middleton would soon follow. Within hours, Kate and William were seen out and about as well.
Prince William met with first responders at an ambulance base at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Norfolk. William has always been an advocate for mental health support. His focus for the meeting was to understand and check on the mental well-being of people working on the front line.
While he’s been working from home, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, helped launch Our Frontline back in the spring when the pandemic was starting to spread at a rapid pace. The initiative provides round-the-clock support to essential workers.
Kate Middleton hasn’t been sitting idly by either. Her first solo public engagement since the U.K. lockdown began in mid-March was to a local garden center near her home. It wasn’t just a casual trip. Kate met the owners and staff to learn more about the measures that they have had to take to enable the business to safely reopen. Meanwhile, her husband visited with a local bakery to learn how the coronavirus restrictions have impacted on the family-run business.
The couple’s social and business schedule is not in full swing yet. Their outings will be limited and they will continue to employ proper precautions such as maintaining social distancing and mask-wearing where they are out. The majority of their work will still be conducted via video conference calls for the foreseeable future.
