Prince William has made no secret of the fact that younger brother Prince Harry will not be welcome back into the royal family with open arms following the terrible things he has said about the family in his bombshell memoir Spare and the controversial Harry & Meghan Netflix docuseries. And if we are to believe Vanity Fair‘s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl, he still stands by his decision.
However, Nicholl has recently claimed that Kate Middleton is using her battle with cancer this year as a way to prove that life is short, and is therefore willing to give her brother-in-law another chance. Keep reading for more details…
Prince William And Kate Middleton Reportedly Have Different Views On Forgiving Prince Harry
"I think the Prince of Wales remains very, very angry and upset and feels very betrayed," Nicholl said in an interview on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, before going on to say that his opinion is very different to his wife's.
"Possibly the Princess of Wales is still open to a reconciliation in some form," Nicholl continued, before referencing the mom-of-three's cancer battle this year. "I still feel it's quite early. But I do think when you go through something like a cancer diagnosis and you go through the sort of journey that she has done, and you confront your own mortality, you realize life is short," Nicholl went on.
She added: "It's far too short for rifts and family feuds. And perhaps that will be a role that she will play at some point in healing that rift, because I think we look to the royal family as a symbol of unity."
Kate Middleton May Want To Lead By Example Due To Being A 'Role Model' To Many
Nicholl also went on to suggest that as the Princess of Wales is a role model to many, she will want to lead by example and be open to forgiveness and reconciliation.
"I think she's also someone who's always led by example, in that sort of way of being a role model," Nicholl noted, adding: "I think and I was talking to sources close to the Princess and to William, who said, 'Never give up hope, there's always a chance,' but of course it's always in the timing."
Royal expert Edward Coram-James also weighed in on the Princess of Wales' feelings on the royal family feud, telling The Mirror US that an ongoing rift isn’t going to be good for her health.
"Let's not overlook the toll this rift might be taking on Kate," Coram-James said. "She’s in a delicate position as she manages her royal duties, family life and her well-being. The constant media scrutiny, especially with the added weight of Harry’s revelations, can’t be easy on her health."
