Royal Friend Dishes On Brotherly Feud
According to a friend to both brothers, "Harry felt William wasn't rolling out the red carpet for Meghan and told him so." This apparently hit a nerve with Prince William, and he was furious. According to the source, things only got better "when Charles stepped in and asked Willam to make an effort. That's when the Cambridges invited the Sussexes to spend Christmas with them.
Harry confirmed this in 2019 on an ITV documentary titled Harry & Meghan: An African Journey. "Part of this role and part of this job, and this family," he told the host Tom Bradby, "being under the pressure that it's under, inevitable, you know, stuff happens. But look, we're brothers, we'll always be brothers."
"And we're certainly on different paths at the moment," he continued, "But I'll always be there for him, as I know he'll always be there for me. We don't see each other as much as we used to because we're so busy, but you know, I love him dearly."
We wonder if he still feels that way now, after a couple of years at lashing out against the royal family in the media.
Royal Fan Reactions
With this revelation, royal fans had a lot of thoughts, and took to social media to share them. Some believed that Harry was in the wrong, that William was probably being very nice, and was just taking out his issues with the media on him, while others believe that William could've been better.
"Harry's a good honest guy and tells it like it is," one person said. "I think William took it for granted that he'd always be his wingman and found it hard to accept that he had entered such a lovely relationship."
"Maybe [Meghan's] just hard to like and Harry is hard work," another suggested.
"I would not trust Harry & Meghan as far as I could throw them," a third added. "The royal family is better without them and their 'truth' books."
"Everyone wants their new significant other to feel welcomed into their family," another fan said. "On such a large scale like the royal family, I could see Harry wanting William to go the extra mile for him and Meghan and I don't think there's anything wrong with that."
But another pointed out, "Prince William has a lot more important things to do than to tend to Meghan Markle's every need."
