Kate Middleton put on a brave face when she revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world on Friday, March 22nd.

In her message, she thanked her husband, Prince William, for being “a great source of comfort and reassurance.” But it’s reportedly an entirely different story behind the scenes, as the future king of England is apparently feeling “helpless and scared.”

How Are Prince William And Kate Middleton Dealing With The Cancer Diagnosis?

According to US Weekly, the Prince and Princess of Wales are staying strong for their children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – but the Princess of Wales is reportedly struggling since undergoing abdominal surgery and starting chemotherapy.

"She tires easily, but she's been trying to spend as much time with her kids as she can," an insider reportedly told the pub, while a second source explained that Prince William and Kate "were not ready for the diagnosis."

"Kate was shocked when they found the cancer and in shock for a while after," the second source confessed. The source also revealed that the parents-of-three actually received the cancer diagnosis on the same day as the memorial for Prince William's godfather, the late King Constantine of Greece, which led him to pull out at the very last minute. At the time, the palace revealed that he was dealing with a private family matter – and now we know!

Prince William Is Reportedly 'Helping In Every Way He Can'

Although the Prince of Wales is reportedly "helpless and scared" following his wife's cancer diagnosis, he is apparently doing all he can for her and their three children, with the source saying: "William is trying to be there for Kate and helping in every way he can. He's been doing schoolwork with the kids and spending time with them in the afternoons and evenings."

The children now reportedly "know their mother is sick and is trying to get better," according to one of Us Weekly's insiders. The Prince and Princess of Wales reportedly wanted to wait until the Easter holidays to go public with Kate's health news, with one of the sources confirming: "They wanted to wait to tell the world the news until their children were off school for Easter break so they could have time to process it before the whole world was talking about it."
