Finding Freedom authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand claim to have the behind-the-scenes knowledge that led Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from the royal family earlier this year. The authors say that the information in the book is based content is “based on the authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps.”
Both Harry and Meghan say they were never interviewed for the book. Sources told U.S. Weekly that Prince William isn’t happy with the book’s contents. This same source further insinuated that William thinks Harry and Meghan “took advantage of their entertainment contacts so they’d be painted in a favorable light.”
Whether or not Prince William believes his brother and sister-in-law contributed to the book, the fact remains that Finding Freedom furthers the gap between the brothers. The royal brothers’ relationship has not been the best for a while and in an interview for the ITV documentary, “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,” Prince William felt that he and wife Kate Middleton were made to seem like the villains in Harry’s life. When Harry and Meghan decided to leave the royal life in January, it definitely added more strain on the royal family.
Prince William has not officially publicly commented on the book. The authors also state that book doesn’t claim to have any interviews with Harry and Meghan. However, whether you believe the book will answer all the questions surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s strained relationship with the British royal family or not, it may be worth a read just for a glimpse of that secret world. Finding Freedom officially releases on August 11.
