Not only did the Duke of Cambridge start the hotline alongside his wife, brother, and sister-in-law, he’s apparently a trained and active volunteer.
The line, Shout 85258, is the United Kingdom’s first 24/7 crisis text line. Shout 85258 has over 2,000 crisis volunteers who are trained to “support anyone, anytime, whatever their crisis may be,” says Prince William.
Prince William made his announcement via Instagram video alongside Kate Middleton. He spoke to volunteers across the U.K. in celebration of Volunteers' Week. William said, "I’m going to share a little secret with you guys," William said. "I’m actually on [Shout] volunteering."
Shout was inspired by Crisis Text Line in the U.S. Prince Willman, Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, and Prince Harry launched Shout back in May 2019 as part of the Heads Together mental health campaign.
