Royal protocol may frown upon public displays of affection – which also includes hand holding! – but Prince William and Kate Middleton have regularly gone against this!
We’ve lost count of how many times the Prince and Princess of Wales have defied royal protocol and held hands or been affectionate with each other in public, which is partly why they are such a big hit with royal fans.
And it seems like they aren’t apologetic about their protocol-breaking behavior either, as a royal expert has recently explained that they are actually “happy” for people to see them behave in this way these days.

Prince William And Kate Middleton Are Reportedly ‘Happy’ For People To See Them Be More Affectionate In Public
If you loved their affectionate Valentine’s Day picture that they shared on social media last month, or seeing them hold hands in public like they did on their recent trip to Wales, then you’re in luck!
“They are happy for people to see them be touchy-feely,” royal biographer Ingrid Seward recently told People, before going on to suggest that this new behavior could be due to the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis, which is now in remission.
"They're in a different phase of their life now," the My Mother and I author continued, adding: "William is very protective and very proud of her for coming through this and carrying on with her life."
The Prince and Princess of Wales have made no secret of how tough her cancer battle has been on the whole family. Their former aide Jason Knauf also touched on it in a candid interview with 60 Minutes Australia earlier this year, revealing that he had never seen Prince William so upset when his wife got the diagnosis.
"It was awful, absolutely awful, it's the lowest I've ever seen him," Knauf recalled.
