Prince Harry is reportedly considering a return to the UK next month to attend the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, possibly accompanied by his wife, Meghan Markle. Many royal enthusiasts are curious if the Duke of Sussex, 39, will visit his brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
Though it was rumored that the Prince and Princess of Wales were hesitant to meet with Harry, author and royal expert Tim Quinn suggests that the duo is now more apprehensive about the potential for rumors and conflict if they were to completely avoid the Sussexes.
Prince William & Kate Middleton Are Allegedly Rethinking Meeting With Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Next Month
Quinn recently sat down with The Mirror and dished: "William and Kate are really nervous that whether Harry comes alone or with Meghan there are going to be difficulties and a great deal of planning is going on to try to reduce all the inevitable awkwardness and embarrassment."
He went on, noting that "one plan being looked is to let the brothers appear in public for a short period to try to show they can at least be civil to each other."
The author of Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle also believes that William and Kate, 42, prefer to set aside any discrepancies and meet Harry (and possibly Markle, 42,) for a brief period of time in order to prevent rumors and speculations from spreading."
Quinn continued: "It’s a question of the lesser of two evils. If Harry comes to the UK in May and avoids his brother and Kate, there will be more damaging speculation than if they try to patch things up just enough to cope with a short meeting."
Last week, an insider in William and Kate's circle shared that the couple has no desire for any conflict, "drama" or commotion with Harry. "Catherine and William have been very clear they want peace and quiet for them and the kids," a tipster told The Daily Beast. "A visit from Harry, with all the drama that would bring, would be the opposite of that." The source went on: "They have come to terms with the estrangement from Harry, and are content to let sleeping dogs lie."
Harry has already made one visit to the UK in 2024, prompted by his father King Charles' announcement of a cancer diagnosis.
However, the Spare author is scheduled to return for a second time in May to attend a special commemorative service for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games at St. Paul's Cathedral.
As his sister-in-law Kate is currently dealing with her health crisis, many experts also think it would be reasonable for Harry to plan a visit with her.
As for Markle, the Suits aum has not yet confirmed whether she will be joining her husband in England. An insider recently revealed to Express that she is feeling "anxious" about the prospect of returning to the country.
"The dates and details are being kept very hush-hush," an insider noted to The Express. "Both Harry and Meghan are listed as guests, and a speech has been scheduled, but there is still a question mark over whether Meghan will make an appearance. Her name has been penciled in as a TBC."
