Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle show, “With Love, Meghan,” has finally dropped on Netflix, marking the second series on the streaming platform that the Sussex’s have starred in. The first, of course, was “Harry & Meghan,” all about their exit from royal life, in which the pair dropped notable bombshells about the royal family.
In particular, Meghan described the first time she met Kate Middleton and Prince William, and how their relationship started off on the wrong foot—barefoot actually. Keep reading for more information.
Meghan Meets Kate & William For The First Time
Meghan first met her future in-laws at Frogmore Cottage, where she and Harry used to reside near Kensington Palace. The Prince and Princess of Wales coming over, perhaps for dinner, but Meghan somehow hadn't realized that this meeting would be their first impression of them.
"Even when Will and Kate came over and I had met her for the first time, they came over for the first time," Meghan recalled. "I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot. I was a hugger, always been a hugger. I didn't realize that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits."

Fateful First Meeting
Meghan continued, explaining it that they were very much on different wavelengths. "I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. That there is a forward-facing way of being. And then you close the door and you're like, 'Oh, great. Okay, we can relax now.' But that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me."
Kate and Meghan were never particularly close, in fact, rumors of them disliking one another have swirled since the start—and maybe it was because of this very first meeting. A misunderstanding between cultures, it seems. Only time will tell if things can be patched up.
