Prince William, Prince Harry, and their wives, may have put on a united front when viewing the floral tributes for the late Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle, but royal insiders suggested that it was a very “awkward” moment for everyone involved!
“It was awkward,” a source told People about the reunion between Prince William, the new Prince of Wales, Kate Middleton, the new Princess of Wales, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle. “Both couples found it hard,” the insider added. “They were in a stoic spirit of just getting through it for the Queen.” And the awkwardness reportedly only got worse at the state funeral on Monday, September 19th!
According to insiders, there was a lot of tension between the new Prince of Wales, 40, and the Duke of Sussex, 38 – and it didn’t go unnoticed by royal fans either, as they spotted that there was *no* eye contact between the brothers when they were walking behind their grandmother's coffin, or when they were later joined by their wives, the new Princess of Wales, and the Duchess of Sussex!
The brothers were walking side by side behind King Charles III, the Princess Royal, Prince Edward and the Duke of York (who, like Prince Harry, was wearing a morning suit as opposed to military uniform like the other members of the royal family, due to no longer being a working royal) although there didn’t appear to be any signs of love or even acknowledgement.

This did make a change from Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021 though, as their cousin Peter Phillips was between the two feuding brothers at last year's ceremony. Having said that, a body language expert suggested that all was not well between the brothers, and claimed that, in her opinion, Prince Harry looked "excluded" from the rest of the family.
"Harry looks physically excluded or sidelined in this grouping with some royals gathering around Charles while the others stand with the Earl of Snowdon, almost with their backs turned to Harry," body language expert Judi James told The Mirror, before going on to say that, while the tension between Harry and his brother is very obvious, so is the tension between him and his father…

"The one moment we have not seen during this visit, despite Charles’s warm words during his speech, is any form of physical meeting between Harry and his father Charles," James added. "All the attention has been on Harry and William but they have performed a couple of forced-looking chatting rituals in the past, and in the Oprah interview it seemed to be his father that received all the really negative body language responses from Harry, rather than William."
