Kate Middleton isn’t the one who looks bad following the controversial Mother’s Day photo – it’s actually Prince William! The Prince of Wales, 41, is being slammed for letting the Princess of Wales, 42, solely take the blame for the photo, which came under fire for featuring a *lot* of editing mistakes and prompting the internet to worry even more about her whereabouts and wellbeing.
If you’ll recall, the Princess of Wales took to X, formerly Twitter, to issue an apology for the photo after learning of all the controversy, writing: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

Kate Middleton Has Been ‘Thrown Under A Bus’ Following Mother’s Day Photo Controversy
Many people have understandably chimed in following the Mother’s Day photo controversy, with the Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden telling Palace Confidential that he believes the Princess of Wales shouldn’t have been the one to fully take the blame.
“I’m just so sad and sort of frustrated about the whole thing because I feel so sorry for Catherine,’ Eden told Palace Confidential host Jo Elvin and Richard Kay.
“Essentially, she’s been under so much pressure from people saying ‘we want a photo, we want to know how she is, tell us how she is,’ that sort of thing. And she finally issues this photograph, it’s taken by Prince William – they make that clear when they issue the photograph. It’s not some personal thing, it’s issued by Kensington Palace communications people and then she has been thrown under a bus.”
Eden then went on to speculate that Kate must have been forced to take the blame for the Photoshop blunder, saying: “I think it’s disgraceful. It’s very ungentlemanly of Prince William to put the onus on her.”
“For goodness sake, he’s the one who took the photograph. And the officials made it public,” he continued. “They gave it out, it’s their job. I think it’s absolutely disgraceful that they’ve said to her ‘you go and explain what you did.’ No, it’s your job. Take some responsibility.”
The editor and broadcaster also confessed that he doesn't think Prince William should have taken the photo at all.
"I think on this occasion maybe instead of asking her husband they could've invited a photographer in," he thought. "I mean, it looks like perhaps someone's come to help do sort of hair and make-up and stuff... so maybe a hairdresser's come in, so one of the very talented photographers could've come in."
