Prince William and Prince Harry have seemingly never seen eye to eye, as we have discovered in Prince Harry‘s bombshell memoir Spare and various other tell-all books from royal authors over the past few years.
It was recently revealed that Prince William doesn’t even want Prince Harry to attend his future coronation when the time inevitably comes, which is a sign that their relationship is showing no signs of being repaired. And the way in which Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seemingly “disrespect” his wife, Kate Middleton, by not addressing her as ‘Catherine’ is apparently yet another reason for Prince William’s negative feelings towards his younger brother.
The Prince Of Wales Reportedly Thinks Prince Harry And Meghan Markle 'Disrespected' The Princess Of Wales
According to the Daily Beast, the Prince of Wales, 42, thinks Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 43, show disrespect to the Princess of Wales, 42, by addressing her as 'Kate,' not 'Catherine,' "even when they were sending her get-well-soon messages after her cancer diagnosis."
If you'll recall, Prince Harry and Meghan issued a brief statement following the Princess of Wales' cancer diagnosis announcement earlier this year, which read: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
A close friend of Prince William's reportedly told the Daily Beast that he has always been touchy about people not using his wife's given name, which Prince Harry should already be aware of.
Prince William's Friend Says People Calling His Wife 'Kate' Really 'Pushes His Buttons'
"The fact that Harry and Meghan were unable to bring themselves to use her chosen name, even when they were sending her get-well-soon messages after her cancer diagnosis, was noted," the Prince of Wales' friend reportedly claimed.
"William takes offense at people calling Catherine 'Kate' because she has asked to be known as Catherine. It's a fairly simple wish to respect," the friend added, before going on to note: "I'm sure Meghan wouldn't like it if William started publicly calling her 'Meghan Markle.'"
"Of course it's an utterly trivial thing," the friend noted, adding, "but those of us who know William know that it is one of the things that pushes his buttons. Pushing his buttons while he was going through his wife's cancer seemed an entirely unnecessary and deliberate irritation."
A second friend reportedly echoed this, and hinted that Prince Harry and Meghan calling the Princess of Wales by her preferred name might be a good first step to repairing their relationship. They said: "No-one's saying it's responsible for all the trouble, but deliberately calling someone by a name they don't like is just [expletive] rude. If Harry and Meghan were serious about healing their issue, a good first step would be to call her Catherine."
