Prince William Describes His Plan For The Monarchy
Prince William was recently in South Africa for the Earthshot Prize and spoke to a journalist there about his plans for the royal family when he becomes king. "To give you more of an understanding around it, I'm doing it with maybe a smaller 'r' in the royal if you like," he explained. "So it's more about impact, philanthropy, collaboration, convening, and helping people."
"I'm also going to throw empathy in there as well," he continued. "Because I really care about what I do. It helps impact people's lives and I think we could do with some more empathetic leadership around the world. So that's what I'm trying to bring, that's what Catherine is trying to bring as well."
Experts Think Prince William Shaded His Father
While Prince William could very well have just been talking about the future, some royal experts think he's talking about the past and present as well, drawing comparisons to his father's style of leadership and his own. By saying "we could do with some more empathetic leadership," it's easy to interpret Prince William implying there isn't any now.
Whether he's referencing King Charles' recent attempts to evict his brother, the disgraced Prince Andrew, from the royal lodge, or the ongoing (never-ending?) feud between the royal family and the estranged Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, it's hard to deny that Prince William has thrown just a little bit of shade.
