Newspapers Publish Speculation That Prince Harry Isn't King Charles' Son
When Prince Harry was born with fiery red hair, eyebrows started to raise, as no other royal has the hair color. Despite Diana's family having a number of redheads, many journalists saw this quiet questioning in some royal fans and took advantage of it, spawning speculation over whether or not Prince Harry is a *true* Windsor.
Prince Harry brought up these rumors in his lawsuit against Mirror Group, specifically citing the article, "Plot to Rob the DNA of Harry." "Numerous newspapers had reported a rumor that my biological father was James Hewitt, a man my mother had a relationship with after I was born," Harry explained. Diana and Hewitt's relationship took place in the years between 1986 and 1991, and Prince Harry was born before Hewitt even came into the picture, in 1984.
Diana Insider Says Rumors 'Really Upset Her'
Many journalists seem to forget that they're writing false narratives about real people, with real feelings. Richard Dalton, Princess Diana's former hairdresser, confirmed that the rumors were obviously not true, but also spoke to her true feelings about them.
"It was tough," he said of seeing the Princess so distraught. "Harry was already born a while before her relationship with Hewitt. Harry and the Spencer family have red hair. Charles, Diana's brother, had bright red hair when he was [in] college. [Diana's sister] Sarah has bright red hair. The red hair was a trait from the Spencer family," he clarified.
He also added that Diana "used to get very upset" about people believing that Prince Harry was a product of her's and Hewitt's love affair, and it seems that Prince Harry agrees.
