YouTube tutorials offer a wealth of makeup tips and tricks, particularly for mature beauties seeking advice on blush application.

Wayne Goss, a renowned makeup artist, recently shared an informative and captivating video demonstrating how to enhance one’s features with blush for a hydrated, flawless, and youthful look.

Goss also cautioned against specific outdated blush techniques that could age women over 40.

Pro Tip: Only Apply Blush Between The Outer Corner Of Your Eye & Hairline

Firstly, Goss noted that how someone applies blush for the most flattering look possible will depend on their "face and eye shape," and that they might need to make adjustments while going along, but he stressed that the following tips of advice are great for general blush application for mature beauties over 40.

"Imagine that there is an imaginary line from the outside corner of eye going all the way down your face," he said. He then used a brush to show where the line would be. Goss pointed to the area between the line and his hairline. "This area here is where you apply your blush, your highlighter and all your contour," he noted.

If you come forward, past the imaginary line, "you start to encroach upon this area of the face and it's not always that flattering for certain face shapes, particularly if you're aging and you really want to pull things up," he warned. "By staying within the imaginary line, you are creating more of a lift on this outside section and keeping this interior lighter, which visually pulls things forward," he continued.

Goss used a tissue as his "imaginary line" and to be a "guide" for where to add blush to his cheekbone area. "The goal that you're trying to achieve is to create color here and have it stop," he went on. "You'll blend it in in a second, but that's the area where you want your face color. It comes from the back and then stops as you look forward." With this technique, he noted that he could "achieve a lifted look, but also stay away from areas that are problematic."

Goss then advised "taking a clean blush and lightly blending that color, which means you will be bleeding it forward slightly, but you want a soft edge." When you prepare to apply highlighter, "it's in that same area as the blush," he reiterated.

"You're getting a shine on the upper part of your face," Goss emphasized, adding that "the reason why that's important is if I look forward, and bring highlighter anywhere under the eye, it's going to emphasize under-eye bags."

The magic line, he concluded, "works on everyone," and will require simple adjustments and customizations depending on your face and eye shape. We're def giving this hack a try!
