Queen Elizabeth II Reportedly Scolded Meghan Markle For Her Rude Comments About The Royal Wedding Menu
An insider reportedly told Nicholl that the incident happened as the mom-of-two was sampling one of the potential vegan dishes on the menu, and was unhappy with how it tasted.
"Meghan was at the castle to taste some of the dishes, and told one of the caterers she could taste egg," the insider revealed, adding: "She got quite upset, saying that the dish was meant to be vegan and macrobiotic, when suddenly the Queen walked in and said, 'Meghan, in this family we don't speak to people like that.'"
We don't know what the Duchess of Sussex actually said, but it must have been something bad (or perhaps it was her tone) to cause the late Queen to interject.
That same year, Kensington Palace launched an investigation into the With Love, Meghan star's behavior following the alleged bullying of two royal aides...
Meghan Markle's Past Bullying Allegations
The news of this investigation came out in early 2021, after The Times revealed that Jason Knauf, former communications secretary to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, had submitted a formal complaint in 2018 claiming that Meghan "bullied two personal assistants out of the household" and undermined the confidence of a third. Staff reportedly described the experience as "emotional cruelty" and "unacceptable behavior."
Royal biographer Valentine Low echoed this in his book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, citing sources who claimed they were "completely destroyed" after working with Prince Harry and Meghan. One staffer reportedly said: "There were a lot of broken people. Young women were broken by their behavior."
Low also referenced how Samantha Cohen, who initially worked as a press advisor to the late Queen Elizabeth II for 17 years before being asked to become Prince Harry and Meghan's private secretary in June 2018, said she was mistreated by the couple. She resigned from the royal household in 2019.
Low mentioned that Cohen (pictured above with the As Ever founder) was "treated harshly" by Prince Harry and Meghan while she was with them, and said the experience was "like working with teenagers."
Working with the late Queen Elizabeth II, however, couldn't have been more enjoyable for her. According to Low, Cohen said: "The Queen had no ego, she was so comfortable in herself, yet she loved it when things went wrong. If a cake was not cutting, or a plaque didn't unveil, because everything was so perfectly organized, it spiced her life up when things went wrong."
