Royal Historian Recalls An Alleged Incident Where Meghan Markle Was 'Very Rude' To A Gardener
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex lived at Frogmore Cottage between 2019 and early 2020, before they famously stepped back as working royals. And if we are to believe the reports, their staff were less than happy with them while they were there!
According to The Sun, Vickers claimed that some "very good sources" told him that there was "trouble" while Harry and Meghan were living there, recounting one particular incident where the mom-of-two was allegedly "very rude" to one of the estate's gardeners.
The Late Queen Elizabeth II 'Didn't Like People Being Rude To Staff'
According to Vickers, the head gardener reported the incident to the late Queen, who addressed the matter promptly and scolded her granddaughter-in-law for her rudeness.
"The head gardener went to complain to the Queen and she told her off because she obviously didn't like people being rude to staff," Vickers said, adding: "She probably is not very good with staff or people that she's employing. It's just very unattractive."
Vickers went on to emphasize the importance of treating employees respectfully, telling the outlet: "You should always be very polite to people who work for you because otherwise they're going to get very put out."
Queen Elizabeth II Reportedly Scolded Meghan Markle For Her Rude Comments About The Royal Wedding Menu
This report comes just a few weeks after royal author Katie Nicholl referenced another moment where the As Ever founder allegedly was rude to a royal staffer in her new book, and was instantly scolded by the late monarch.
As per her new book, The New Royals, an insider reportedly told Nicholl that the incident happened during a tasting session ahead of Meghan's royal wedding to Prince Harry in 2018, and was unhappy with how one of the potential vegan dishes tasted.
"Meghan was at the castle to taste some of the dishes, and told one of the caterers she could taste egg," the insider revealed, according to Nicholl. They went on: "She got quite upset, saying that the dish was meant to be vegan and macrobiotic, when suddenly the Queen walked in and said, 'Meghan, in this family we don't speak to people like that.'"
