Queen Elizabeth II reportedly went into hospital on Wednesday, October 20th, although the exact reason for her stay hasn’t been revealed. And if the secrecy surrounding the royal family is anything to go by, we don’t think we will ever find out the specifics! The Queen is entitled to some privacy though, are we right?!

Here’s what we do know. The 95-year-old British monarch (the world’s longest-reigning current monarch, may we add!) was advised to go into hospital for “preliminary investigations,” and then returned home to Windsor Castle the following day. She was treated at the private King Edward VII Hospital in central London, and it was reportedly her first overnight stay at a medical facility in eight years. We’re hoping that just one overnight stay means that things aren’t that serious!

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson issued a brief but informative statement about Her Majesty, writing: "Following medical advice to rest for a few days, The Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits."

The Palace previously said that she was due to travel to the city of Armagh in Northern Ireland on Thursday, but "reluctantly" took medical advice to cancel the trip. No one can accuse The Queen of not being hard-working! The day before she went into hospital, she attended an event at Windsor Castle with her son, Prince Charles, grandson, Prince William, as well as UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Bill Gates and US climate envoy John Kerry. As things currently stand, The Queen is still expected to travel to Scotland next week alongside the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to attend events between November 1st and November 5th. We hope that she will be well enough to attend!
