People are going to be so mad when they hear about what Quentin Tarantino just said about his family. In a new interview, the famed movie director revealed that he had vowed to never share any money with his mother after she discouraged his writing career.
Speaking to “Billions” co-creator Brian Koppelman on his podcast, “The Moment,” Tarantino shared, “She said, ‘Oh, and by the way, this little writing career — with the finger quotes — this little writing career that you’re doing, that s— is f—— over.'”
Tarantino explained, “When she said that to me in that sarcastic way, I was in my head and I go, ‘OK lady, when I become a successful writer, you will never see penny one from my success. There will be no house for you. There’s no vacation for you, no Elvis Cadillac for mommy. You get nothing because you said that.'”
And Tarantino shared that he has stayed true to his word. Despite the success he has celebrated, winning two Academy Awards and directing countless blockbuster movies, the director has never purchased a car or a house for his mother.
He told Koppelman that there was one time he did financially support his mother, simply stating, "I helped her out of a jam with the IRS."
"There are consequences for your words," Tarantino said on the podcast. "As you deal with your children, remember there are consequences for your sarcastic tone [about what is] meaningful to them."
The 58-year-old director did not elaborate on the state of his relationship with his mother or how she has reacted to his strict standpoint on sharing money.
