Many people believe that if you are going to eat something unhealthy, it is better to have it in the morning so your body has more time to burn off the extra carbs and calories. While there might be some level of truth to this practice, there is one ingredient found in just about every McDonald's breakfast item that is extremely detrimental for your health when eaten in large amounts in the morning.
McDonald's breakfasts are loaded with fat and sodium. A single breakfast sandwhich has 24 grams of fat and 1.3 grams of sodium, which means this meal will put you at 37% your daily recommended fat intake and more thant 50% your daily recommended sodium intake - early in the day.
And other menu items are even worse. For example, the McDonald's Big Breakfast, which has hotcakes, a biscuit, scrambled eggs, sausage and hashbrowns, is not the well-rounded meal it might seem like. This dish comes with 65 grams of fat and 2 grams of sodium. This is definitely not what your body needs to start its day.
On the bright side, McDonald's coffee is not unhealthy. If you really need your fix of takeout breakfast, stick to a simple coffee and make your own breakfast sandwich at home.
