Rebel Wilson has been continually astonishing fans on social media with her impressive 80-pound weight loss.
Recently, the Pitch Perfect star’s personal trainer, Jono Castano, shared insights in an interview with Hello! magazine. He delved into the specifics of the Australian native’s health journey, outlining her six-week regimen and the strategies he employed to help her shed “unnecessary body fat.”
The Bridesmaids alum’s go-to health expert, Castano, advises his clients to push their limits “just over” their comfort zones when exercising. He has designed a six-week body transformation program, available through LIVEnow, that incorporates the same methods he uses with Wilson, 44.
Rebel Wilson's Trainer Opens Up About The 6-Week Body Transformation Program Behind Her Weight Loss
As described by Castano, a standard training week with Wilson unfolds as follows: Day one features high-intensity interval training (HIIT) combined with mobility exercises. Day two shifts to weightlifting and resistance training. Days three and four focus exclusively on HIIT. On day five, the regimen includes both HIIT and weightlifting. Day six is reserved for recovery, and on the seventh day, it's back to HIIT.
At the beginning of her journey, the Isn't It Romantic alum visited a health retreat in Austria, where she discovered the advantages of taking a brisk walk. She noted that the retreat helped her learn how to flush out "every toxic substance possible in all sorts of crazy ways." As Wilson previously dished to Shape, "While there I learned that moderate — not even fast-paced — walking is the best way for me to lose unnecessary body fat."
Wilson also previously shared with her fans that she adjusted her diet to focus on wholesome, high-protein foods. As for her exercises, Castro further dished: "With all of my virtual training session clients, I usually suggest having a set of dumbbells or kettlebells and resistance bands. Adding these to workouts will definitely give you a great workout and a good range of exercises you can do."
The best part of this type of equipment, Castro added, is that "you don't need much space to store them or do the workout in." He also stressed the importance of his clients documenting their progress and noting their wins along the way. "Reflecting back on your journey will show you that even in the toughest times, even on days that you don't feel like working out, you got through it and made you stronger," Castro shared.
When it comes to the mindset he encouraged Wilson to have, Castro noted: "exercise is not only great for the body but also the mind. You will overall feel better, and you just need a little reminder on why you started to keep you going." Wilson mentioned earlier to Shape that she embarked on her weight loss journey last year after realizing that improving her health would increase her chances of successfully freezing her eggs.
"I never properly considered wellness from all angles. But I was turning 40 and thinking about freezing my eggs, and the experts told me that the healthier I am, the better the process can go," she shared. Wilson, together with her wife Ramona Agruma, welcomed their daughter Royce into the world in November 2023 through a surrogate.
