A Reddit Post Goes Viral After Warning Customers About Purchasing Hailey Bieber’s Lip Liners Due To Allergens: ‘Be Aware!’

Hailey Bieber‘s sought-after beauty line, Rhode (known for its popular products like the Peptide Lip Treatment and Glazing Fluid), has sparked attention on Reddit due to a significant allergen found in its latest lip liners. The Rhode Peptide Lip Shape pencils, which sell for $23 each, include fenugreek extract.
As reported by The Daily Mail, this ingredient can cause allergic reactions in individuals with peanut allergies. Rhode acknowledged in an Instagram story earlier this month that the new lip liners do contain fenugreek extract, which the post claims visibly enhances the look of lip volume. Fenugreek is mentioned as a “key ingredient” on the product’s webpage, but it is not flagged as an allergen, the source reported.

Reddit users have rushed to highlight the concerning ingredient, according to the report. One user wrote: "Rhode’s new lip peptide liners are made with FENUGREEK EXTRACT!!" They added, as per The Daily Mail: "This is a legume apart of the peanut family and is common to be allergic if you have a peanut allergy!! I’m severely allergic to peanuts and realized a few years ago I was allergic to fenugreek."
The Redditor went on: "I don’t feel it’s addressed loudly, although I appreciate Hailey adding it in the captions. Please let your nut allergy friends be aware!!" Someone else replied: "I’m being high alert bc fenugreek has sent me to the hospital 2x!" Regarding the Rhode website, one other suggested: "This should 10000000% have an explicit allergen notice on the website."
One other stressed: "I have a tree nut allergy and have had a similar situation with products that have kukui nut in it (kind of on me but I thought it was a coconut situation) and a quick search shows most products with it contain an allergen disclaimer telling those with a tree nut allergy to avoid. "
In a January 25th Instagram post promoting the new lip liners, Rhode wrote that the ingredient, fenugreek extract, is "derived from organic fenugreek sprouts," and it "visibly enhances the look of lip volume and gives lips a firmer appearance."
Since the Vogue cover girl, 28, introduced her line in June 2022 with offerings such as the peptide glazing fluid, barrier restore cream, and peptide lip treatment, its demand has soared.
2024 was a big year for Mrs. Bieber (who shares newborn son Jack with her husband Justin Bieber), as she launched Rhode's Pocket Blushes in June and also dropped the Rhode Fall Lip Cases and non-comedogenic, moisture Barrier Butter on October 28th.
