Reese Witherspoon wowed attendees at the New York screening of her latest romantic comedy, You’re Cordially Invited. The stylish Legally Blonde alum, 48, wore a stylish black two-piece ensemble, which included a round-neck, zip-up jacket with gold accents and a ruffled peplum miniskirt with a timeless A-line shape.

The mom of three completed her outfit with sleek black heels, dangling shiny earrings, and sparkling rings for added flair. Witherspoon posed for solo photos and also joined her co-star, Will Ferrell. Additionally, Witherspoon made news last week by disclosing that a well-known British actress has ceased communication with her. Just Jared reportedly uncovered evidence from a 2007 fan site suggesting that the actress in question is Kate Winslet.

As for her glam for the event, the Walk the Line star wore her signature blonde tresses down, parted in the center and styled into a voluminous, collarbone-length lob. For her makeup look, Witherspoon opted for black liner, smoky eyeshadow, rosy blush on her high cheekbones and a bright pink lipstick hue.

Over the past few weeks, the Oscar winner has been actively promoting the Amazon Prime Video movie You're Cordially Invited, where she shares the screen with Ferrell, 57. The story unfolds at a location that has mistakenly scheduled two weddings on the same day. In the film, Witherspoon plays the sister of one bride, while Ferrell portrays the father of the other.

While chatting with People to discuss her new film with Ferrell, the mom of three also opened up about giving a speech that she later regretted. In the clip, she said to Ferrell while sitting down with the outlet: "Have you ever had this moment where you gave a speech and then like three years later, you’re like, ‘Why did I do that? Why did I do that? I have one. It literally haunts me."

She continued: "So this friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award. But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her. The tone was British and elegant and classy. And I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?!’ I’m still embarrassed about it."

Reese Witherspoon Seemingly Regrets Teasing Kate Winslet In A 2007 Speech

The This Means War star went on: "We’re not friends anymore. I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore. I think she doesn’t like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn’t talk to me anymore. Oh well." Just Jared obtained the transcript of the speech that Witherspoon delivered in November 2007, during the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards, in tribute to Winslet, 49. The two actresses appeared to have been on good terms, as they were observed warmly greeting each other at the Golden Globe Awards earlier that same year.

On February 1, 2025, however, Witherspoon cleared the air. She wrote on her Instagram Stories: "Hey guys...just spoke to my very dear friend for years, Kate W. We laughed about this stupidity. Please do not believe the internet. We are good friends and have never had any falling out." She added that rumors of her "roasting" Winslet are "completely UNTRUE" and "so silly."
