The early 2000s were a glorious time for the iPod, crimped hair–and also rhinestone crop tops.
The glittery belly-baring tops made famous by the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey and other pop culture icons of the time are actually making a huge comeback for 2021 (if you can believe it).
Considering how much of a moment J.Lo is having right now, we actually couldn’t be more excited about replicating her famous looks from the past. Even if it does mean doing 1,000 crunches a day.
Rhinestone Crop Tops Trend
How it started: Jennifer Lopez wore a white crop top to the 2000 MTV Music Video Awards, where she picked up a statue for her sing “Waiting For Tonight.” She completed her look with a white rhinestone bandana and low-rise white pants. Her date for the evening was, of course, boyfriend P.Diddy. A truly iconic pairing (and we’re talking about the crop top and low-cut pants combo).

How’s it going: London-based designer Fannie Schiavoni is bringing back glittery party tops–and we’re not mad about it. Elsa Hosk, Winnie Harlow and even J.Lo herself are huge fans of the sparkly, belly baring tops. Except hers are made with handmade metal.
How to style them for this decade? ” Today, wear both with your favorite wide-leg baggy jeans,” The Zoe Report explains.
