Ricki Lake is the latest A-lister to embark on a weight loss journey. And like many other famous faces who have shed the pounds recently, she hasn’t been shy in flaunting her new slimmed-down physique for the world to see!
The 55-year-old talk show host and actress has reportedly lost a staggering 30 lbs in just four months, after telling her Instagram followers that she decided to take action in October 2023 and start eating better and exercising more.
Ricki Lake Flaunts Her 30-Lb Weight Loss
The Hairspray actress has been showing off her weight loss on social media not by splashing out on new, smaller clothes, but actually slipping back into some of her old favorites. On February 29th, she shared a picture of her 2007 US Weekly cover, where she could be seen posing in a seductive red Norma Kamali swimsuit alongside a current picture of her wearing the same piece. Wow!
And on March 4th, she did a similar thing and shared a picture of herself in a black leather mini skirt and black turtleneck sweater from 2011, after she did Dancing with the Stars, compared with a current picture of herself in the exact same outfit.
How Did Ricki Lake Lose 30 Lbs?
So how did she do it? On February 24th, Lake shared a post with her 299K Instagram followers to tell them how she shed the pounds – and she seemingly wanted to make it very clear that she did *not* go down the weight loss injections route!
"Hi friends. I've been wanting to share with you what I've been up to these last 4 months," her post began. "On October 26th, 2023 I made a commitment to myself to get healthier. My husband, Ross joined me in this effort. Together we have each lost 30+ lbs. I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) But neither of us were pre diabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own."
"Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried, that my body would not drop the lbs like it had in the past," Lake continued, adding: "I am so so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel strong."
Fans Aren't Buying It
Although Lake seemed to make it clear that she didn't use weight loss injections such as Ozempic and Wegovy to slim down, the internet wasn't really buying it. "Another Ozempic story," one skeptical fan commented on one of her Instagram posts, to which Lake directly replied: "Nope. Guess again."
Another doubter commented: "Every single suddenly thin celeb: Jessica Simpson, Jay Z, Kelly Clarkson, Oprah, all the Kardashians, all of them are using semaglutide to lose lbs. Maybe it's 'Mounjaro' and not 'Ozempic' but it's all due to medications." And Lake once again shut them down, and replied: "NOT me."
The doubt continued over on the Oprah Daily Instagram account, which shared a picture of Lake in her red swimsuit. "This is infuriating that all of these celebrities and other wealthy people are able to have Ozempic prescribed to them for weight loss. Meanwhile us commoners aren't able to even come close to being able to afford it and our insurance will not cover it for weight loss," one infuriated fan wrote. "Ozempic of course!" exclaimed another doubter, adding: "As a nutritional coach I think, 'there is no quick fix!'"
"Oprah's got shares in Ozempic," quipped one fan, in reference to the talk show host's recent confession that she took weight loss injections. "Oprah should be sayin…. You get free Ozempic and you get free Ozempic," joked another. "Great marketing for Ozempic," commented another fan, as another chimed in: "Oooo Oooo Oooo Ozempic." "Thank you Ozempic," wrote another, followed by three hand clapping emojis.
