Ricki Lake is the latest A-lister to show off her slimmed-down figure with the world.
But unlike many celebrities who have openly credited weight loss injections such as Ozempic and Wegovy for their smaller frames, the 55-year-old talk show host and actress has maintained that she did *not* go down that route, and credited good old fashioned diet and exercise instead. Whether fans believe her or not is another story…

Ricki Lake Says She’s ‘In The Best Shape’ Of Her Life Following 30-Lb Weight Loss
Back in February, the Hairspray actress told her 305K Instagram followers that her weight loss journey began in October 2023, after she and husband Ross Burningham decided to start eating better and exercising more. And by February 2024, she was down 30 lbs.!
On April 16th, Lake took to Instagram to share some even more recent pictures with her fans – and her weight loss was very evident in the candid snaps! She captioned the post: “Still going… Strong. Moving my body every single day. Out in nature, rain or shine with my beloved Ross and Dolly. So grateful and proud to feel like I’m in the best shape of my life at 55 1/2.” She finished off with the hashtags “#allnatural #nofilter #selflove #happy #healthy” and a red heart emoji.
How Did Ricki Lake Lose 30 Lbs.?
On February 24th, Lake opened up to her Instagram followers about her super-impressive weight loss, and made it clear that she did not go down the weight loss injections route.
"Hi friends. I've been wanting to share with you what I've been up to these last 4 months," Lake's post began. "On October 26th, 2023 I made a commitment to myself to get healthier. My husband, Ross joined me in this effort. Together we have each lost 30+ lbs. I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.) But neither of us were pre diabetic and both of us felt like we wanted to at least try and do it on our own."
"Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried, that my body would not drop the lbs like it had in the past," Lake continued, adding: "I am so so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel strong."
Some Fans Don't Think Ricki Lake Is Telling The Whole Truth
Although Lake maintained that she didn't use weight loss injections to slim down, some of her fans didn't seem to buy it, and made their opinions known on social media. "Another Ozempic story," one skeptical fan commented on one of her Instagram posts about her weight loss, to which Lake directly replied: "Nope. Guess again."
Another doubter commented: "Every single suddenly thin celeb: Jessica Simpson, Jay Z, Kelly Clarkson, Oprah, all the Kardashians, all of them are using semaglutide to lose lbs. Maybe it's 'Mounjaro' and not 'Ozempic' but it's all due to medications." And Lake once again shut them down, and replied: "NOT me."
