Both Marvel fans and past Marvel stars couldn’t contain their excitement after it was announced that Robert Downey Jr.  would be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But he isn’t returning as Iron Man…

An exciting announcement took place at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 27th, where it was revealed that the 59-year-old Iron Man actor will portray villain Victor von Doom (aka Doctor Doom) in the next two Avengers movies: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

“New mask, same task,” the Oppenheimer actor reportedly said at the Comic-Con panel, according to People, adding: “What did I tell ya? I like playing complicated characters.”

He also made the same remark on his personal Instagram account that same day with a picture of himself holding a mask, and a video of himself being unmasked at Comic-Con.

Gwyneth Paltrow, who starred as Iron Man’s love interest Pepper Potts in the 2008 movie, commented: “I don’t get it, are you a baddie now?” Avengers co-star Mark Ruffalo, who clearly seems to be a Charli xcx fan based on his comment, wrote: “Hey Brat, green suits you.” Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan added: “There’s absolutely nothing that Robert Downey Jr. can’t do.”
