Robin Roberts brought fans to tears during an episode of Good Morning America last week. The popular host of the morning talk show revealed a much-loved member of the show’s team passed away last week.
Roberts made the announcement alongside co-host T.J Holmes, paying tribute to their coworker.
She also shared the tribute on Instagram, with a sweet caption: “We have heavy hearts this morning and closed @goodmorningamerica with a tribute to #JimSicile...a beloved and longtime member of the #ABC and #GMA family. Phenomenal photographer and so much more. Our thoughts are with his beautiful family and his wife Kathie.”
Jim Sicile was a longtime photographer for ABC News. He had been with the network for over 40 years, having started in the mailroom in 1972.
During his long career with ABC, Sicile covered some of the biggest news events in the country and internationally.
Sicile died after a battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife, who told ABC that Sicile’s “passion for his craft was so strong that he even had a plan for who would have his camera equipment once he passed,” according to Hello!
Several other ABC News shows paid tribute to the photographer last week, in addition to Robin Roberts’ message on Good Morning America.
