Prince Harry’s statement confirming his relationship with Meghan Markle and condemning the public for the “wave of abuse and harassment” the Duchess of Sussex, 42, received, has quietly disappeared off the British royal family’s website after seven years.

In the 2016 statement, the Kensington Palace’s communications secretary shocked the world when they condemned the negative media attention and defamatory statements that were made about Markle at the time of release.

Wayback Machine, an internet archive site, was able to access the link to the statement on December 3rd but was not able to one week later on the 10th, according to Newsweek. This indicates that the lengthy release was taken down during the seven-day span.

Statement From Prince Harry Confirming Relationship With Meghan Markle Has Been Removed From The Royal Family’s Website After Seven Years

The strongly-worded statement stated that the Duchess of Sussex had been smeared “on the front page of every national newspaper,” and it called out the “outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.”

Shocking details of the former Suits star's loved one’s struggles were also released.

“Some of it has been hidden from the public — the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life,” the release stated.

The Spare author, 39, stated that he was worried for his partner's safety and stressed that “this is not a game — it is her life and his."

This is not the only change we have seen made to the royal family’s site since the beginning of the year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s bios were merged into one, in March, and at the top of the page it says “as announced in January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family.”

Independent biographies of the royal pair can now be found on their recently launched website, sussex.com.

Their website also features brief accounts of their trips together, like their recent trip to Nigeria that made King Charles “angrier than anyone has ever seen him.”
