Royal Fans Use Clips Of Prince William And Kate Middleton's 'Body Language' To Counter Prince Harry's 'Dig' About Royal Marriages

Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s fans on TikTok are responding to Prince Harry‘s past comments on royal marriages by showcasing the couple’s body language in new compilation videos on social media. In the Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, released in December 2022, Harry vaguely hinted that some family members, particularly men, choose partners who conform to traditional standards rather than pursuing their heart’s desire.

While the remarks were perceived as aimed at both his brother William and father King Charles III, Harry did not name any individual in particular. To counter these implications and Harry’s “dig,” William and Kate’s supporters are using footage that displays the couple’s “deep affection” for each other as a retort.

Did Prince Harry Make A 'Dig' At William & Kate? Fans Respond To His Past Marriage Comments On TikTok

One viral edit on TikTok showcases an image of Harry with the following caption: "Harry: 'William didn't get married out of love.'" (While the Duke of Sussex didn't utter those precise words, they capture the essence of how his comments were received by many online.)

The edit proceeds to exhibit several clips of William and Kate displaying affection, commencing with a moment of eye contact on the red carpet at the James Bond No Time to Die movie premiere in September 2021. Beneath the upload, many began sharing their thoughts. "Prince William...Winning again and again," one commented.

Another added: "Not only did he marry for love, he married SMART." Someone else chimed in, regarding the Prince and Princess of Wales: "You can absolutely tell they're in love because its the little gestures not the big ones that show how they feel about each other."

In the highly viewed Netflix documentary that chronicled his own love story with his wife, Meghan Markle, Harry said: "I think for so many people in the family, especially obviously the men, there can be a temptation or an urge to marry someone who would fit the mold as opposed to somebody who you perhaps are destined to be with." He added: "The difference between making decisions with your head, or your heart."

Harry went on: "And my mum certainly made most of her decisions—if not all of them—from her heart. And I am my mother's son." After the doc aired, many viewers on X (previously Twitter), speculated that Harry was alluding to the famous 1981 interview where King Charles III was asked if he and his then-fiancée Diana Spencer were truly in love. Charles infamously responded: "Whatever 'in love' means."

Other viewers of Harry's documentary took his words as a dig aimed at both William and his father. In an interview with the Daily Mail last year, royal biographer Robert Jobson was among those who voiced their reactions. "To say the King and Prince of Wales don't love their wives and only married them because they fitted the mold is simply not true," he said.
