At the royal wedding of Princess Rajwa Al Saif in Jordan, a ‘tense’ moment between Prince William and Kate Middleton was caught on camera. In the clip, William is seen encouraging Kate to “chop, chop” and wrap up her conversation with the princess.
Now, royal fans everywhere are losing it over the “awkward” interaction, which has caused a stir on Twitter. The Cambridges attended the special day for King Abdullah’s eldest son, Crown Prince Al Hussein, and Saudi Arabian architect, Rajwa Al Saif.

Prince William Urges Kate Middleton to Finish Conversation at Royal Wedding in Jordan
In a now viral video shared by The Daily Mail, William and Kate can be seen waiting in line after the wedding ceremony to formally congratulate the newlyweds. The ever-so-stylish Kate donned a stunning, long-sleeved, rosy pink maxi dress with flowing fabric. William sported a crisp navy suit.
In the clip that shows the two couples conversing, Kate can first be seen talking with the Crown Prince, while her husband chatted with Princess Rajwa. After the Prince of Wales ended his convo, his wife then followed his lead, greeted Rajwa and the two began talking. It seemed that Kate was complimenting Rajwa’s wedding gown while hugging her and kissing her on the cheek.
William then stood to the side before stepping into Kate and Rajwa’s convo. He can be heard saying “chop chop” to his wife, and then saying she should “keep going.” He then moved his hand in a circular motion, urging her to wrap up the conversation.
Royal Fans React to William’s “Chop Chop” Moment
Many royal fans on Twitter were divided by the interaction, with some deeming William’s behavior to be “tense” or “controlling,” and others saying that he was just “simply asking his wife” to end her conversation.
“Prince William saying ‘chop chop’ and making the hand gestures while Kate is speaking to THE BRIDE is unbelievably rude & so low class,” one Twitter user wrote shortly after the video emerged online.
They added, “He’s standing right in front of a video camera also.” One other replied, regarding William’s behavior, “So rude!” Someone else disagreed, tweeting, “He was smiling and joking.”

In an interview with The Express, body language expert Judi James analyzed the footage and said, “This is not one of his finest moments when it comes to either body language or words. While he has clearly moved on from the meet and greet with the bride and groom, Kate stands talking to the bride in an animated and very friendly way.”
James went on, “She is not causing a ‘log jam’ but holding up the queue and the next guests are still talking to the groom, so there appears to be no logical reason for William to hurry his wife along, especially as she only adds a few seconds to the conversation. Whether he says ‘chop chop’ his hand gesture alone is bad enough, with a winding gesture that would normally imply that time is running out.”
