Ryan Reynold's Daughter's Vulgar Scene In 'Deadpool & Wolverine'
Speaking during a commentary track for the movie's Deadpool Corps scene, Ryan Reynolds admitted that Inez, then 7, was originally opposed to saying her line. In the scene, she plays the child version of Deadpool and shouts at her father's character, "Hey, when I want your opinion, I'll take Wolverine's d*ck out of your mouth!"
Looking back, Ryan said, "Guiltily, that is my daughter Inez. I am father of the year over here for her allowing her to say such language, which, to her credit, she really didn't want to say," he explained. "And then [she] came back later and said, 'I want to say it now' when I started looking at other people to play it."
Even worse, director Shawn Levy admitted that Inez had to say the line "70 to 500" times.
Backlash For Ryan Reynolds
In a Reddit thread discussing the commentary, Reynolds is receiving a lot of heat for his choice. "There's no reason she needed to deliver that line herself," one person said. "It's a character with a mask and no visible mouth, it could easily have been dubbed over."
"I didn't think I'll ever find a justification for AI voiceover to deliver lines, but what do you know, here's one," another added.
"Or just remove the line completely," suggested a third. "If a comedy writer can’t make an equally funny line that an actor feels comfortable saying maybe they shouldn’t be a writer."
"It's honestly so disgusting and violating?" a final person said. "I wouldn't care if it was just swearing but getting a kid to make a sexual joke is gross and vulgar."
