Sabrina Carpenter cleverly responded to critics on TikTok who alleged she was lip-syncing during her recent Short n’ Sweet Tour performances.
When a detractor questioned if the “Espresso” hitmaker, 25, “ever” sings live at her concerts, another user shared a clip from one of her recent shows, asserting it was proof of her lip-syncing.
In the comments, Carpenter humorously refuted the accusations and even offered to put her doubters in touch with her crew to verify her live singing.
Sabrina Carpenter Sounds Off On Critics Who Accused Her Of 'Lip Syncing' During Her Recent Concerts
"Hate to say it," the troll wrote, as reported by E! News, "but 30% lip singing [sic] 30% backing track [and] 40% singing." On October 1st, the "Taste" singer shot back: "I sing live at every show 100% Would you like to speak to my audio engineers?"
The original critic then replied to the "Nonsense" artist's comment, expressing their eagerness to meet and sharing what they would convey to her audio engineers if the opportunity arose. "I would," the hater noted, "and tell them to lower the backtrack voice as its [sic] way too high."
This isn't the first instance of the "Please Please Please" crooner making waves during her national tour in support of her sixth studio album, Short n' Sweet. During her highly anticipated Madison Square Garden concert in New York City on September 30th, Carpenter made headlines after joking about getting the Big Apple's mayor, Eric Adams, "indicted."
The former Disney Channel actress quipped about the rumors suggesting her controversial "Feather" music video might have played a role in the mayor's indictment. As she engaged in lively banter with the audience between songs, Carpenter playfully asked: "Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted or…?"
The audience erupted in cheers at the remark, which hinted at the uproar sparked by her 2023 music video. In the visual, Carpenter suggestively danced inside a Brooklyn church.
Following the video's debut, the priest who had given prior approval for the filming was demoted and relieved of his responsibilities. The diocese later informed the New York Post that the scandal seemingly prompted a "broader administrative review."
Carpenter's recent remarks on the entire situation suggest that she has remained unfazed ever since her music video started generating buzz.
As she told Variety in November 2023 regarding the visual for her hit single: "We got approval in advance." She added: "And Jesus was a carpenter."
