Salad is always a healthy choice, right? Wrong!

The truth is that salad might seem like it’s the best meal choice when you are trying to stay healthy because raw vegetables contain many nutrients, but there can be ingredients in your salad that are causing weight gain. Let’s turn our attention to the salad dressing.

You should avoid creamy caesar salad dressing because it can slow your metabolism and cause you to gain weight. A two-tablespoon serving of this type of dressing can contain as much as 170 calories, 18 grams of fat and 270 milligrams of sodium. Keep in mind that most people pour more salad dressing than the label’s serving size onto your salad.

Using a dressing that is high in fats and sodium can transform your salad from a healthy meal or side dish into something that is no more beneficial for your health than a bag of potato chips.

To keep your salad as low in fats and sodium as possible, try making your own salad dressing, or simply pouring some olive oil and vinegar onto your greens. If you’re interested in making your own caesar dressing, here is a healthy recipe you should try.
