There are quite a few shoe trends that are taking over the summer – and dad sneakers are one of them!
Oversized fashion is truly en-vogue right now, with baggy jeans and larger-than-life blazers reigning supreme. Therefore, it should come as no surprise to see chunky sneakers – often referred to as dad sneakers because of their not-so-delicate aesthetic but super-comfortable feel – also on the list of trends!
Celebs Love Dad Sneakers!
As expected, some of our favorite trend-setting A-listers are all too aware of the dad sneakers trend, and haven't wasted any time in trying it out for themselves. We imagine that they love footwear trends that prioritize comfort and can be worn both night and day with ease.
Margot Robbie rocked a great pair of dad sneakers a few months ago, when she wore some white New Balance sneakers with an oversized khaki-colored power suit while leaving a hotel in New York with her husband prior to announcing her pregnancy.
Meghan Markle and Jennifer Aniston have also been spotted in some New Balance 327 sneakers (check out some pics here) which seem to be one of the most versatile sneakers of the moment; not to mention one of the most comfortable thanks to their lightweight silhouette and padded insides.
Salma Hayek Rocks The Dad Sneakers Trend In Paris
One of our favorite dad sneakers looks came from Salma Hayek when she carried the Olympic Torch ahead of the Paris Olympics at the end of last month. The House of Gucci star rocked a gorgeous white tracksuit when she did the honors, and finished her outfit with a pair of white chunky sneakers. This was one of those occasions that called for comfort and chicness – and Salma achieved both!
The Magic Mike's Last Dance star gushed about the momentous occasion on her Instagram account, writing at the time: "Yesterday, I had the honor of carrying the Olympic flame, a symbol of light, hope, peace, and unity. If you believe in these values, know that you were with me every step of the way. As I passed the torch and took part in the relay, I was proud to represent the enduring spirit of the Olympics, bringing light, hope, and unity to all."
