Savannah Guthrie is the latest in a long line of celebs to announce that they have tested positive for COVID-19, presumably with the latest super-contagious Omicron variant. The 50-year-old news anchor’s positive test result comes just a few days after Craig Melvin announced that Today co-host Hoda Kotb was absent from Thursday, January 6th’s show due to testing positive for the virus.

On Monday, January 10th, Savannah – who just like Hoda, is fully vaccinated and boostered – took to social media to confirm the news with her fans. As the caption to a split screen picture of herself with her 57-year-old co-host presenting the show, she wrote: “Trading places with @hodakotb! She is back in the studio and is now negative, and now I tested + for Covid! So working from home for a few days. Feel good, just a few sniffles!”

Kotb also commented on her and Guthrie's health statuses on the show, saying: "I feel like we are a ton of the country. This is so weird. I am having a flashback to 2020." Kotb also reassured viewers that she followed all of the safety measures and protocols prior to returning to the show, adding: "I had two negative tests to be back in my seat." She then told Guthrie, "I know a negative test is coming your way."

Today weatherman Al Roker confirmed that he too had contracted the virus via a comment on Jimmy Fallon's social media post about his own positive test. Replying to Fallon's post about testing positive for COVID-19, Roker wrote: "Hang in there, Jimmy. We got it, too but vaxxed and boosted and you get through."
