Savannah Guthrie Says It's Been 'Really Hard' Being Back At Work Following Her Mother's Disappearance
One of the most trending news stories of this year has been the tragic disappearance of Today reporter Savannah Guthrie's mom, Nancy Guthrie.
The 84-year-old vanished from her home in Arizona on January 31st or the early hours of the morning on February 1st, and throughout their investigation, police and detectives believe she was taken from her home with force and against her will. For months, Savannah and her family members remained in the area as the investigation initially took place, continually asking fans and others around the world to not only send her family prayers but also to inform police if they knew any information about her mom's disappearance whatsoever.
Following a lack of major updates in her mother's case, the journalist decided to return to New York City and her position as a co-host on Today, which some social media users judged her for, finding it strange or too soon. This morning, she appeared on the Today with Jenna & Sheinelle segment, where she talked about what it felt like to be back to her previous routine.
"It's really hard to come back," she tearfully admitted. "I've been trying so hard to hold it together, and I promise I will."

Savannah Asks For Prayers As She Opens Up To 'Best Friend' Jenna Bush Hager
During her interview with her fellow co-host, the Arizona native started getting vulnerable about what it was like to continue working while being unsure about what had happened to her mom, Nancy. In previous social media videos and interviews, she's revealed that she's come to realize and accept that she may never see her again.
"I'm happy to be back," she said. "It's like the two hours of my day — it's not that I'm not thinking about it, because I am — but it's something to do. It brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody. But no, it's not easy."
Additionally, she explained what it was like being surrounded by her friends on set every day as she copes, after adding that she can hear her mom telling her to "keep going."
"It's hard when you're with your best friend to not be real," she told Jenna. You've asked me before if I'm ready. But I couldn't look at you, in this kind of setting, where we talk about life and not tell the truth about my life...We still need everybody's prayers. We still wish somebody would call and say what they know."
Quoting a passage from the Bible, given that she and her mother are both women of faith, Savannah revealed some messages that she's trying to remind herself of during these trying times.
"There's a part of it which says, 'You'll walk and not grow faint,'" she added. "And this sermon that I read talked about that, how there's a time in life when just walking and not growing faint is about as good as it can get. And that's what I feel like I'm doing. I'm trying to walk and not grow faint, and it's a gift from God that I'm able to do so. But it's always with me. I cry every morning on the way to work, and I cry every morning on the way home."
