Savannah Guthrie’s Shocking Health Update–What Does This Mean For ‘Today’??
April 22, 2021 by Hannah Kerns
Savannah Guthrie is on the road to recovery! The Today co-host was noticeably absent from Tuesday’s episode, but she reassured fans that she would be “back in business” soon. Sharing a health update and photo on Instagram of a bandaged eye, Guthrie explained that she had to undergo a procedure.
This is actually Guthrie’s third eye surgery, and she says it will be her last. The television personality first suffered an eye injury in November 2019 when her son threw a toy train at her face and has been experiencing some vision issues since. She first underwent surgery in December of that year. Then, this past July, Guthrie had cataract surgery. At the time, she shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Seeing all the colors a little brighter today… I’m so grateful my surgery was a success! I’m still healing but already noticing a major improvement in my vision.”
“So much gratitude to my gifted surgeon @abrissettemd and her amazing team! See you later this week on TODAY! And when I say ‘see you’ – I really mean it,” Guthrie added.
She described her follow-up operation this past week as her “last teeny tiny eye surgery.”
Guthrie’s doctor, Dr. Ashley Brissette, shared the post on her page as well, writing, “I love helping my patients see better again.”
