Hoda Kotb recently revealed to her longtime fans and Today Show viewers that she would be departing from the broadcast team early next year. In the weeks since her September 26th announcement, rumors have been swirling about other potential shifts in NBC’s morning programming, especially concerning whether co-host Savannah Guthrie might also be leaving.

During the Project Healthy Minds 2nd Annual World Mental Health Day Gala in New York City last week, Guthrie, 52, alluded to possible changes on her personal horizon. While chatting with Us Weekly about her special bond with Kotb, 60, Guthrie told the outlet on October 10th: “We’re dear friends and we have a lot of similarities.” She added that they are “basically in the same phase of life.”

Savannah Guthrie Fuels Speculation About Exiting The Today Show Following Hoda Kotb's Departure

Guthrie went on, noting that she could see why her longtime friend made the choice to leave the show. "We have these little kids that we both feel so lucky that we got to have later in life. It makes a lot of sense to me what she has decided," Guthrie said. Guthrie and her husband, Michael Feldman, are parents to two children: Vale, 10, and Charles, 7. Likewise, Kotb has two kids with her former fiancé, Joel Schiffman: Haley, 7, and Hope, 5.

Whispers have emerged suggesting that Guthrie might be contemplating her own exit, according to an insider who spoke to Page Six"There was chatter that Savannah was planning her own exit for 2025," the source said, adding that Kotb's recent news "has made that all but impossible." According to another recent report by The Daily Mail, the television star's contract is set for renewal next year.

Last month, Guthrie got candid about her friendship with Kotb during her colleague's emotional on-screen departure announcement.  "We love you so much. And when you look around and see these tears, they are love. You are so loved," the journalist told Kotb.

"It's complicated because we love you so much and we don't want you to ever go," she added before noting: "I am so proud of my friend. You have guts." Kotb, as fans now know, will stay on Today until early next year and will still be with NBC, though the details of her future role are yet to be determined.
